 Workplace Cancer Champions

Tailored and practical education and support to help improve cancer outcomes in the workplace in East Lancashire

Cancer Research UK Facilitators

Cancer Research UK and CARES are offering local companies FREE cancer education, support and resources to their workforce. We will help you develop a Workplace Cancer Champion (WCC) in your company who will help to raise awareness of cancer and the importance of earlier diagnosis.

The local issue
There are around 2,100 new cancer cases every year in East Lancashire and around 980 deaths. With more than 4 in 10 cases of cancer cases in the UK being preventable through changes in lifestyle behaviour, early diagnosis of cancer is key to providing patients with more effective treatment options and improves their chance of survival. In our region in 2017, 50.6% of all new cancer cases were diagnosed at an early stage (1 and 2), lower than the England average, 54%.

About the CRUK Facilitator for East Lancashire

Cancer Research UK FacilitatorsCancer Research UK is a national cancer charity. Our vision is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. In the 1970s, less than a quarter of people with cancer survived. But over the last 40 years, survival has doubled. Our ambition is to accelerate progress and see three-quarters of people surviving the disease within the next 20 years.

The Cancer Research UK Facilitator programme was launched in 2014 and focusses on supporting healthcare professionals and organisations to improve prevention and early diagnosis. We offer FREE tailored, practical support to help change the way organisations manage cancer.
